This journey invites you to cross the entire island, from West Java to Central Java and then to East Java. You will travel from the surreal blue acidic sulfur lake of Kawah Putih to the active volcano Mount Bromo; from the historic Chinese quarter of Bandung to the colorful Rainbow Village of Malang. You will hike at sunrise on Mount Ibu Sunan near Bandung and on Mount Sikunir on the Dieng Plateau. Transportation alternates between private vehicle with driver, local train journeys, and cycling through rice fields. This is a deep and immersive discovery journey, designed for travelers who truly wish to connect with Javanese culture and people. A journey entirely dedicated to one island. A 100% Java experience.

  • Day 1 Welcome to Java, Welcome to Jakarta

    Welcome to Java, Welcome to Jakarta Upon arrival at Jakarta International Airport, you will be welcomed by your English-speaking Javanese driver. To allow you to rest after your long flight, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you will stay for the next two nights.

  • Day 2 Discovering Jakarta, Old Batavia

    Discovering Jakarta, Old Batavia For your first day of acclimatization, your English-speaking driver will take you from district to district to discover the first elements of Javanese culture.

    You will explore the historic streets of Jakarta, passing colonial buildings dating back to the 17th century.
    Visit the National Museum, Jalan Senopati, and Jakarta’s Chinatown. The museum hosts an impressive collection of artifacts from Indonesia’s diverse ethnic groups, including traditional costumes, musical instruments, house models, Hindu-Javanese bronzes, stone temple relics from Central Java, and Chinese ceramics.

    Explore Glodok, Jakarta’s Chinatown, a vibrant commercial and cultural hub.
    Visit the Jakarta History Museum (Fatahillah Museum), located in the former Batavia City Hall, recalling the Dutch colonial era.

    Continue to Sunda Kelapa Port, once the heart of Jakarta’s maritime trade and formerly known as the “Gateway to Batavia.”

    After this first day of exploration, you will return to your hotel.

  • Day 3 Ciwidey: The Call of Javanese Nature

    Ciwidey: The Call of Javanese Nature After a relaxed morning, you will leave the Indonesian capital and head inland to discover the countryside and your first volcanic landscapes.

    You will travel into the mountains and settle into an isolated cabin offering stunning views over the Bandung region.

    Enjoy this natural pause before the early wake-up the following day for your first sunrise hike on a volcano.

  • Day 4 Sunrise over Kawah Putih & Discovery of the Bandung Region

    Sunrise over Kawah Putih & Discovery of the Bandung Region Your adventure begins around 3:00 AM with your first Javanese volcano sunrise.

    You will hike to the summit of Mount Ibu Sunan, an easy trek through forest and tea plantations, with a steeper final ascent to the top.
    From the summit, enjoy a spectacular sunrise and watch the changing colors of Kawah Putih’s sulfur lake.

    After descending, you will visit Kawah Putih more closely.
    *Due to high sulfur concentration, the visit is limited to 30 minutes.

    Return to your cabin to rest, then visit a local deer farm near your accommodation.
    Continue towards Rengganis, crossing one of the longest suspension bridges in Java before reaching natural hot springs.

    After a 20-minute walk, enjoy the Rengganis hot springs, including a traditional mud massage.
    Don’t forget your swimsuit.

    In the afternoon, transfer to Bandung, where you will stay for the next two nights.

  • Day 5 Bandung City Tour: Cafés, Braga Street & Chinatown

    Bandung City Tour: Cafés, Braga Street & Chinatown Bandung, the capital of West Java Province, is a major city surrounded by volcanoes and tea plantations. It is especially renowned for its colonial and Art Deco architecture, its lively university atmosphere, and—thanks to its altitude of 768 meters—its relatively cool tropical climate.

    Today, you will enjoy a full day of panoramic sightseeing in Bandung.

    Discover the city’s historical and cultural significance as the host of the Asian–African Conference, and why it is often referred to as “Paris van Java” for its elegance and charm. You will explore Bandung’s old town, visit the Asian–African Museum, and stop for a drink in a traditional historic café to gain insight into the daily life of Bandung’s past generations. You will also visit President Sukarno’s former prison, to better understand the reasons behind his imprisonment and key moments of his life.

    The journey continues to Gedung Sate, the city’s iconic landmark and a legacy of the Dutch colonial period. Its elegant Indo-European architectural style is enhanced by the beautifully landscaped surrounding gardens.

    At the end of the day, you will visit one of the traditional Javanese wooden puppet artists’ houses, where you will learn how to craft and paint this legendary local art form.

  • Day 6 Ascension du Semeru (3676m) (B-L-D)

    Ascension du Semeru (3676m) (B-L-D) Peu après minuit vous partez à la conquête du Semeru , le plus haut volcan de Java (3676 m). C'est une ascension de nuit qui commence en forêt avant que le sentier atteigne un désert de roches et de cendres volcaniques. La dernière partie est plus raide mais au sommet, vos efforts sont récompensés par une vue spectaculaire. Le volcan le plus haut sur Java, expulse volutes et bombes volcaniques à une cadence régulière :un spectacle unique ! Vous descendez jusqu'à Kalimati pour prendre votre petit déjeuner et vous poursuivez votre descente jusqu'à Ranu Kumbolo Dîner et nuit au campement.

  • Day 7 Fin du Trek et route pour Cemorolawang (B-L)

    Fin du Trek et route pour Cemorolawang (B-L) Le matin, vous vous réveillez et admirez le lever du soleil sur le lac de Ranu Kumbolo. Vous profitez du dernier petit déjeuner au campement, puis commencez à descendre vers Ranupani. En arrivant, route pour Cemorolawang, déjeuner en route. Selon votre horaire d'arrivée, il est possible dès cet après-midi de découvrir la mer de sable et d’approcher au plus près le cratère du célèbre Mont Bromo, en évitant la plus forte affluence. Diner libre

  • Day 8 Lever de soleil sur le volcan Bromo (B-L)

    Lever de soleil sur le volcan Bromo (B-L) Le matin avant le lever du soleil, vous prenez des jeep, puis marchez un peu pour atteindre un point de vue sur les volcans Bromo, Batok, ainsi que le Semeru en arrière plan, le paysage est magnifique au petit matin. Puis, si vous n’avez pas eu le temps la veille, vous descendez toujours en jeep dans la mer de sable pour approcher au plus près le cratère fumant du Mont Bromo. Retour à l’hôtel pour le petit déjeuner et route vers l’est de Java et Ketapang, à votre arrivée temps libre pour vous relaxer ou profiter de la piscine de l’hôtel. Dîner libre.

  • Day 9 Ascension du volcan Kawa Ijen (2883m) (B-L)

    Ascension du volcan Kawa Ijen  (2883m) (B-L) Encore une fois très tôt le matin (4h), vous partez en jeep à la découverte du volcan Ijen (1h30 de trajet). Vous atteignez le parking de départ de la randonnée au lever du soleil pour monter aux heures plus fraîches, et déjà vous croisez sur le chemin des porteurs de souffre qui descendent depuis le cratère leur premier chargement du jour. Après environ 2 heures de montée vous arrivez au bord du cratère et profitez d’un paysage lunaire et de la vue sur le lac. Vous redescendez jusqu’au parking et prenez la direction de la jolie cascade de Jagir avant de rejoindre Banyuwangi. Vous traversez en direction de Bali et atteignez le village de Pemuteran ou vous vous installez pour 2 nuits.

  • Day 10 Snorkeling sur l’île de Menjangan (B-L)

    Snorkeling sur l’île de Menjangan (B-L) Vous rejoignez le port de Labuan Lalang d’où vous embarquez sur des bateaux de pêcheurs pour rejoindre l’île de Menjangan. Cette île est principalement connue pour ses superbes récifs coralliens que vous découvrez en snorkelling. Vous déjeunez ensuite (pique nique) et aurez peut être la chance d'apercevoir les biches qui la peuplent. Retour à Pemuteran dans l’après midi et courte ascension de la colline de bukit Kursi pour avoir une belle vue sur Menjangan, mais aussi Java. Fin de journée libre

  • Day 11 Les cascades de Sambangan et les rizières de Jatiluwih (B-L-D)

    Les cascades de Sambangan et les rizières de Jatiluwih (B-L-D) Ce matin vous prenez la route en direction du jolie village de Sambangan, proche de Lovina. Accompagné d’un guide local vous faites une jolie randonnée à travers champs de fleurs et rizières avant de faire une halte chez une famille balinaise pour une petite pause. Vous atteignez ensuite la cascade de Aling Aling pour une baignade rafraîchissante, et une multitudes de cascades encore plus bas pour une baignade plus ludique : Sauts et toboggans naturels au programme. Vous prenez la route montagneuse pour rejoindre les rizières de Jatiluwih , classées au patrimoine de l’UNESCO, avant d’arriver a Wongayagede chez Ibu Sastra pour une soirée de partage.

  • Day 12 Ascension du Volcan Batukaru ( 2276m) (B-L)

    Ascension du Volcan Batukaru ( 2276m) (B-L) Ce matin, vous partez pour l'ascension du mont Batukaru, le deuxième sommet de Bali culminant à 2 276m. Après un court transfert pour rejoindre le point de départ le Pura Luhur Bhujangga Waisnawa (908m), vous commencez la randonnée à travers une magnifique forêt. Passé les 2 000m, la végétation est plus dégagée et vous commencez à avoir une vue sur la vallée environnante. Vous redescendez par un autre chemin, pour terminer au joli temple de Batukaru. Votre chauffeur vous attend et vous partez pour Ubud ou vous vous installez pour vos 2 dernières nuits.

  • Day 13 Ascension du Volcan Batur et detente dans les sources chaudes (B-L)

    Ascension du Volcan Batur et detente dans les sources chaudes (B-L) Départ avant l'aube (vers 2 heures) pour rejoindre la région de Kintamani et faire l’ascension du Mont Batur. Vous grimpez à la frontale, et au sommet, assistez au magnifique lever du soleil sur le lac. Vous faites le tour du cratère et observez les fumerolles avant de redescendre. Baignade dans les sources d'eau chaude, au bord du lac après la randonnée. Vous rentrez ensuite sur Ubud en fin de matinée pour une fin de journée libre.

Terms and conditions

Booking conditions

Booking a trip with Altaï Indonesia implies acceptance of the terms and conditions of sale. Each customer is required to complete a registration form and, subject to availability at the time of registration, travellers are expected to pay a deposit of 35% of the total price to complete their booking. Payments can be made online or by bank transfer. You will receive an e-mail with your booking confirmation.

Invoice procedure

Once your booking is confirmed you will receive an invoice by e-mail. The full balance of the trip must be received at least 35 days before your departure date. Altaï Indonesia reserve the right to cancel your booking, free of charge, if this deadline is not respected.

Cancellation policy

If for any reason you have to cancel your trip, Altaï Indonesia require written confirmation of your decision. The money you have paid will then be refunded according to the following deductions:

  • Cancellation received more than 30 days prior to the departure date: a sum of €50 per person will be retained
  • Cancellation received 30 to 21 days before the departure date: your deposit, 30% of the total trip price will be retained
  • Cancellation received 20 to 14 days before the departure date: 50% of the total trip price will be retained
  • Cancellation received 13 to 7 days before the departure date: 75% of the total trip price will be retained
  • Cancellation received less than 7 days before the departure date: 100% of the total trip price will be retained

Special cases:
Please note that, regardless of the date of cancellation or modification if you have agreed to pay for services such as hotel reservations, flights or additional activities, these services are usually non-refundable so additional fees may apply.
  • Fixed airfares: if your airline ticket was issued in advance, often done to avoid significant surcharges, you will be charged 100% of any non-refundable fees if you wish to change or cancel your flight plan.
  • Fixed in-country costs: early charges for firm bookings will be charged if you cancel or modify your trip.
  • Insurance costs: if you have taken out comprehensive or cancellation insurance, the cost of insurance is due and cannot be refunded.

Please note that fees apply according to the date Altaï Indonesia receive your cancellation or modification request in writing.

If we have to cancel a departure due to an insufficient number of participants, you will be informed no later than 21 days before departure and a full refund will be issued, you will not be entitled to further compensation. We reserve the rights to cancel departures due to exceptional circumstances which may impact the safety of participants. Such circumstances include those amounting to 'force majeure' in which case participants will receive a full refund but they will not be entitled to any compensation.

Changes to travel contract

If you wish to make a change to your booking please contact Altaï Indonesia in writing; you will be expected to pay any fee which might arise from this change. In the event of unforeseen external events, Altaï Indonesia may change some aspects of the travel contract. If any changes are necessary you will be informed as quickly as possible.

Pricing

The prices on our website are updated regularly and all of the prices we advertise are accurate when published. We reserve the rights to make changes to any of these prices. Before you make a booking we will give you the up-to-date price of your chosen holiday including any supplements, upgrades or additional activities you may have requested. If the number of travellers is fewer than the indicated number of participants on the website, a small group surcharge may be applied. For all of our trips we include details of services, prices and what is/is not included but please be aware that changes to the prices may be necessary in accordance with exchange rates or price changes of various components of the journey.

Contract transfer

If you are unable to travel for any reason, you can transfer your booking to another person in which case our modification conditions apply. Both the transferor and transferee will be jointly and severally liable for payment of the total holiday price and other associated expenses. Some airline carriers treat name changes as cancellations and you may be required to pay for the cost of a new ticket.

Insurance

We strongly recommend that you take out personal travel insurance for your trip with Altaï Indonesia as soon as your booking is confirmed. We advice you to purchase a travel insurance policy which covers flight cancellations, luggage loss and emergency health care. Please look carefully at which activities are covered by your insurer and do not forget to bring all necessary documents and information with you (name of the company, name of the contract, insurance policy number, telephone number...)
